Home-made remedies for teeth whitening

Lemon Juice
Lemon juice has been recommended as a home remedy for discoloured teeth and this is enabled by the citric acid that is mild in nature and has natural stain removing ability. The flip side is that the acid attacks the calcium present on the enamel resulting in exposure thus hastening tooth decay. Although it is a proven remedy it is a double edged sword. In the same vain, you can rub your teeth with the inside part of orange peels since they too have citrus that acts as a stain remover with little damage to the enamel.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide has been proven to have teeth cleansing properties. Once weekly is recommended although some people report to gargle the solution twice daily. Gargling a capful of the same for approximately one minute followed by immediate rinsing with water and brushing with normal toothpaste yields incredible results. This solution kills two birds with one stone in that besides whitening your teeth it protects your mouth from invasion by harmful microorganisms that thrive in the minute abrasions in the mouth. For those who are very sensitive with taste, Hydrogen peroxide is mild and has a little bitter taste but will freshen your breath.
Strawberries
Strawberries contain malic acid which aids the removal of loose stains on the teeth. You can create your own strawberry toothpaste at home by blending it with one teaspoon of baking soda. Make sure the blended mixture becomes as smooth as possible for better results. When brushing your teeth smear the paste on your teeth then let it settle for around five minutes while avoiding drooling as much as possible. The paste may produce bad smell but you need to get used and you will ultimately get the desired results.

Wood Ash
Wood ash has been shown to have teeth cleansing properties. Chemists have attributed this to the potassium hydroxide that is present in large quantities in wood ash. However, you should be very cautious when using this remedy since prolonged usage results in breakage of teeth.
Oil Pulling
Being and old Indian remedy that cleanses the body in addition to enhancing oral health the process is quite easy and harmless. Take one spoonful of organic oil that is pure and gargle it for around 20 minutes. Spit out the oil then use clean water to rinse the mouth. Finally take 3 glasses of water. Regular oil pulling will yield incredible results.
Also remember to drink soda or wine using a straw to avoid direct contact with teeth as much as possible. Sounds embarrassing, right? But it is for your own good. Other tried and tested remedies for teeth whitening involve mixing toothpaste, salt, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. You can try this one as well and be sure to get your groove back, well in regards to smiling of course. All the best!
