Alcohol and diabetes effects on human body – Alcohol and diabetes: Following are some effects of alcohol on diabetes:
- Blood sugar can raise when you take alcohol in normal amount .But when you drink a lot of alcohol then it will lower your sugar level up to an extreme level.
- Snifter and sweet plum contain fats that will cause blood sugar.
- Your appetite can also get affected by alcohol that make you start eating in large amount.
- Your decisions, mind control, courage and guts are also getting affected because of alcohol.
- Through the use of alcohol can become a remedy for oral diabetes and insulin.
- Triglyceride levels may raise by alcohol.
- Blood pressure also affected by alcohol. (Increase in blood pressure)
- Flushing, vomiting, increased heart beats, and indistinct verbal communication is caused by the use of alcohol.

- A man should not drink more than two drinks of alcohol per day while a woman should take one drink. E.g one alcoholic drink = 5-ounce glass of wine, 1 1/2-ounce “shot” of liquor or 12-ounce beer).
- Take some food whenever you drink alcohol.
- Prohibit using sweet mixed drinks, sweet plums, or jovials.
- Dilute alcohol with water, soda, or diet soft drinks.
- Wear a hat checker that indicates that you are diabetic.
- Have a regular check up and follow the guide of your doctor – as alcohol can take your diabetes to a worse level.
- Examine your blood sugar level before, during and after drinking alcohol. A check before going to bed is strongly recommended.
- Have some good diet before taking alcohol, as food slows down the breakdown of alcohol.
- Prohibit over drinking, it is suggested that a diabetic man should have no more than two drinks a day and a diabetic woman should have only to drink.
- Keep a back up or emergency case, which should have glucose tablets or any other source of sugar. As glucagon shots won’t work in this case.
- Restraint from exercise after drinking, it creates chances of lowering the sugar level of your body.
- Nerve cells can get damaged by alcohol. A diabetic patient with nerve damage can affect the patient badly as it increases pain, deadness, itchy or blazing feelings.
